In-ground Trampoline Pros and Cons

May 31, 2020 by Peter Leave a Comment

Do you want to install an in-ground trampoline, or are you considering an above-ground trampoline?

There are many things that you should consider when you need to choose between these two trampolines. Even, if they are both equally fun, there are some different things to consider.

Some prefer to install the in-ground trampoline, while others prefer to purchase the above-ground trampoline.

If you are unsure about which one you should consider, then these pros and cons of the in-ground trampoline will make things easier.

Pros. Fewer Risks

in-ground trampoline installation

This might be debatable, but the in-ground trampoline is safer and provides fewer risks than the above-ground trampoline.

Statistics have shown that there are fewer risks involved when your children are playing on the in-ground trampoline. Not as many need emergency treatment.

The most common reason is that with the in-ground trampoline, the injuries are limited because the trampoline isn’t high off the ground.

And, the trampoline isn’t causing a risk of falling off or jumping too high. Making this a safer trampoline for teens that like to show-off.

Cons. Higher Costs to Install

A problem that you need to consider is the costs of the installation. This isn’t something cheap to install. Meaning that you’ll need to make sure that you get quotations and that you are prepared for the costs.

You need to remember, that the hole needs to be dug and the trampoline purchased. And, it needs to be installed by a professional. It all costs money.

Some people might say that this is worth the costs, while others might say that this is just a waste of money. With a normal, above-ground trampoline, there aren’t any installation costs.

You are setting it up yourself after you have purchased it. And, you are done. No added costs. Not when you are purchasing the in-ground trampoline. Then you are going to pay extra for installation as well.

Pros. Lower Maintenance Costs

One of the pros and benefits of having an in-ground trampoline. It has a lot of lower maintenance costs.

No need to purchase the safety net. And, you don’t need to worry about repairs during a huge storm. It can’t get damaged in the wind.

You should only cover the trampoline during the wintertime to protect against the snow. Many people are losing their above-ground trampoline during storms when the trampoline gets blown away, or gets blown apart.

With the in-ground trampoline, this won’t happen at all. Making this a great choice, and worth the money spend.

Cons. Installation Takes Time

If you think that you are going to have your new in-ground trampoline installed within a couple of hours or just in a day, then you are mistaken.

This is one of the problems and cons of buying and installing an in-ground trampoline. It takes time to get the trampoline installed, the hole in the trampoline made and to get a water drainage system underway to drain rainwater out of the hole.

You will be lucky if you have your trampoline done within a week. Your children might start getting impatient because of the wait before they can get their trampoline done.

And, you can’t do it yourself. You will need to hire an experienced person to install the trampoline for you.

Pros. Easier to Use for Small Children and Adults

With the in-ground trampoline, it is easier to use for smaller children, and even for adults. You don’t need to struggle to get to the top of the trampoline before you can enjoy it.

You just step onto the trampoline. And, getting won’t be a problem as well. Making it so much easier to use.

This is the problem with the above-ground trampolines. It is really hard to use, when you need to get up to the trampoline, using steps.

Smaller children can fall, get injured, and can also fall off when they try to get off the trampoline. With the in-ground trampoline, this isn’t going to be a problem at all.

Cons. Need More Space Available

This is a problem that many in-ground trampolines need to know. You will need to have more space for the trampoline than with the above-ground trampoline.

And, when you are relocating, this is something that you can’t take with you. A problem for many people. You won’t be able to get the money that you spent on the installation back.

When you are considering installing an in-ground trampoline, you need to consider the pros and cons first. This is the only way that you can make sure that you are going to know if this type of trampoline is for you.

There are many things to consider, but these pros and cons will give you an idea about the trampoline. And, if this is something that you would want to get installed, or if you should rather go for the above-ground trampoline.

It’s the same when it comes to jewelry. The jewelry can get stuck on the mat and can cause serious injury, or you can damage your shoulder in the process.

This is why you should never go onto a trampoline with shoes and jewelry on. Not if you want your trampoline to last.

Most people don’t make use of their trampolines during the winter and don’t realize how much damage it can get with the snow and frost on it. It is best to take your trampoline apart and store it till spring.

But, if you can’t take it apart, you might want to purchase a trampoline cover that you can cover the trampoline with. This is to protect your trampoline from the extreme cold conditions.

When spring starts, you can take off the cover, clean the trampoline, and enjoy another couple of months of the outdoors and the trampoline.

Also, something that you should do on a regular basis. To make sure that the safety net is in good condition and that it is still connected to the trampoline correctly.  The thing about the safety net is that if you don’t have a high quality one, there is a chance that the sun can ruin it.

Meaning that you need to consider replacing the safety net. This normally depends on where you are living, and how hot the sun can get. If the net tears easily, it is time to replace it.

Cleaning a Trampoline Often is Essential

Yes, you need to clean your trampoline often. With soap and water. To make sure that you are getting rid of dust, leaves, and debris that can damage the trampoline and that might hurt your children.

And, you don’t want filthy children after they have played on the trampoline. If this happens, this is a sign that you really need to clean your trampoline. You can make it a family thing to clean the trampoline before you all have fun on it again.

There are a couple of things that you need to do when it comes to trampoline care and maintenance. Things that you might not have known, or that you didn’t think about.

If you want to make sure that you are going to have a trampoline that is lasting you for a long time, then it is important to keep your trampoline clean and maintained.
